On the occasion of World Space Week 2016, the University of Athens Observatory (UOAO) of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens organized a space event for young and old on Sunday 9 October 2016. The event took place at the Section of Astrophysics, Astronomy and Mechanics of the Department of Physics. The activities were planned and organized under the guidance and supervision of faculty members Ioannis A. Daglis (Professor in Astrophysics) and Kosmas Gazeas (Lecturer in Astrophysics), with the valuable contribution of undergraduate and graduate students. The event was a great success, as the turnout of visitors exceeded 500 persons. The events consisted of:

• Observation of the Sun with telescopes and information about the phenomena of the solar photosphere and chromosphere.
• Lecture by Dr. Kosmas Gazeas entitled "Madagascar 4: Hunting the Celestial Shadow". The lecture concerned the annular solar eclipse, which was visible from Madagascar on September 1, 2016.
• Lecture on Mythological Constellations.
• Presentation of ESA's Rosetta mission. Within this presentation we attended to the "Cooking of a Comet" using dry ice and everyday materials.
• Construction and launch Demonstration improvised rocket by compressed air and water.
• Interactive fairytale on "search preserving ideal human life conditions on another planet the satellite in the solar system".
• Space quiz for young and grown up.
• Crafts and structures for our little friends.

The evening ended with a tour of Gerostathopoulio University Observatory, observation of the night sky and presentation of the telescope's operation. Some snapshots of the event follow below.
