Public Nights and Special Astronomical Events during 2021-2022

Observation of the planet Venus

Planet Venus was in an inferior session with the Sun and the Earth in the first days of the year. Observers had the opportunity to observe even with a small telescope a very thin meniscus, even during the day!

The telescope at the University of Athens Observatory captured the image of Venus on the day the planet was at its closest apparent distance from the Sun.

The apparent distance between Venus and the Sun was almost 4 degrees, which made photography difficult!
